The 2007 Road Cycling International Invitational will be staged in Beijing on August 18-19 along a scenic Olympic route. It is not only an official event on this year's UCI calendar, but also part of the "Good Luck Beijing" Sport Events in preparation for next year's Olympic Games.

The Olympic route adopted for the Beijing road cycling race has attracted 18 teams from 16 countries and regions, including Chinese Taipei and Chinese Hong Kong. Host China even sent two more teams, Team B and Team C, to join the competition. Although China has an overwhelming superiority in terms of the number of riders involved, European and American teams are still in a leading position in the sport. Powerhouses such as the United States, Russia and Italy are hot favorites for the titles. Among the riders from Asia, the best one will be Wong Kam Po of Chinese Hong Kong, while those on the Chinese team have slims hopes for taking medals of any color.
