Italian G. Bosisio wins men's mass start road race

The 2007 International road Cycling Invitational Race wrapped up its first-day competition this afternoon in Beijing as Italy's Gabriele Bosisio clocked 4:27:14 to top the group for the 174-km mass start road race, followed by Dyachenko Alexandr of Kazakhstan and Vincenzo Nibali of Italy.
Starting from Yongdingmen, the cyclists passed through many local scenic spots such as the Temple of Heaven Park, Tian'anmen Square, Lama Temple, Ditan Park and Beijing Olympic Tower as well as the Summer Palace. The Italians gained an early advantage since the flow drew its way to the suburban section from Badaling expressway side road.
Some riders lagged behind in the four-lap uprising course but the Italians fastened their dominance by excellent teamwork, especially in the final spurt.
Tomorrow the men's individual time trial will begin at noontime at the Juyongguan Great Wall.
