Cadel Evans: "I want to win Tour de France"
On the afternoon of August 19, with the birth of the men's individual time trials champion, the 2007 International Road Cycling Invitational Race drew to an end. In the post-match press conference, Cadel Evans, runner-up of the 2007 Tour de France, became the focus of attention of all parties.
In yesterday's mass start road race, Cadel Evans finishing fifth due to the tremendous pressure he bore as one of the star riders in the world. Thanks to his timely mental adjustment, he managed to come out on top in the individual time trials with a time of 32:28:92, or 24.74 ahead of the runner-up.
Commenting on his performance in these two races, Evans explained, "Yesterday the Italian team's performance was just perfect. Through flawless teamwork they showed absolute control over the pace of the ride. I think it was quite natural for them to win the race."
Evans also lavished high comments on the organizational work of the tournament, "The route is very beautiful, and everything was properly arranged. Security measures, in particular, were in place along the route to ensure the smooth going of the race."
Although claiming titles for both the individual time trials and the two-race total, Evans said he was more interest in the Tour de France. "I'll try to compete in the Tour de France again next year and see how it'll feel like being the winner of it."
